Kaoshou Fanziquan: a boxing done with cuffed hands
Paperback. By Wen Jingming. Hundreds of years ago, there was a wushu master in Hebei province, China, who was jailed because he killed someone in a knight-errantry. During his imprisonment, he continued practicing Cuibafan boxing. But with handcuffs and fetters on, it was impossible for him to do the movements. He had to make change of it, hence the Kaoshoufanziquan (Fanziquan boxing done with cuffed hands) created. Kaoshoufanziquan has 64 forms in eight sections and each of it includes one of several techniques. It is a boxing its movements are produced on sequence. Most movements of the boxing are short and small, the fists strike out at close-range and quick, and the legs raise low and there is no high leaps to avoid being thrown down and keep steady. As a branch of Fanziquan, the boxing not only possesses the general characters of the school, but its own features.
