Dragon-Tiger Double Sword Style.
Paperback. By Dr. Leung Ting.
Kung Fu is another term for Wu-Shu, and Wu-Shu includes fist fighting, Chinese weapons, and Tai Chi Chuen, which is only one style of Chinese Wu-Shu. Chinese Kung Fu is divided into two main branches, namely, fist-fighting and weapon fighting. In ancient time in the Chinese Society, when firearms were not is use, weapon-fighting played an important role in wars or combats. Chinese weapons can be classified into two categories: those used on horse-backs, and those used while standing. The former category includes mainly long weapons usch as the lances and halberts, and were used in training for wars and fightings. The later includes the common medium-sized weapons such as broadswords, double-blade swords, clubs, poles, spears, double gobular bronze hammers, three-sectioned cudgels, etc, and small-sized weapons such as butterfly-double knives, daggers etc. Among these the most commonly used are the double broadswords and the single braodsword, which are widely used by soldiers, bailiffs martial secorts, way-faring Kung Fu entertainers, robbers and bandits. On the other hand, the double-blade swords, which are more difficult to master, and the pole, which is less convenient for carrying and not as fatal, are less widely used than the broadsword. Techniques of the sword, such as those of the Dragon-Tiger Doublesword Style introduced by this book, are a style of rare and fatal sword techniques. Before starting to write this book, I had to try hard to persuade Sifu Cheug Siu Fook, the only remaining successor of this sword style, to agree to may doing so, because Sifu Cheug has never shown techniques of his style to other people, and is not earning a living by teaching martial arts. In fact he has never thought of passing sword techniques of his style to anyone.
